How I help shape how healthcare actually works
For me, innovation isn’t a buzzword, it’s the work of rethinking how care is delivered, who it reaches, and how technology can support (not replace) clinical judgment.
Over the last two decades, I’ve helped design and lead programs in digital health, telecardiology, adult congenital heart disease, and AI-enabled care; and I’ve worked with regulators, health systems, and companies that are shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
Work With Me

American College of Cardiology
Building the AI-enabled, innovation-ready clinicianAs Chief Innovation Officer at the American College of Cardiology (ACC), I work with a global community of more than 57,000 cardiovascular professionals to bring new tools (digital health, data analytics, and AI) into everyday practice in a safe, equitable, and clinically meaningful way.
Clinical integration of AI and digital tools
Helping clinicians understand where technology can truly support decision-making, workflow, and patient experience, rather than adding noise or extra clicks.Education and workforce readiness
Designing content, podcasts, and conversations that help busy clinicians become “innovation-enabled” without needing to be data scientists themselves.Innovation in Action
Hosting ACC’s Innovation in Action series, where we spotlight real-world examples of digital tools, collaborative intelligence, and early-detection models that are already shaping care.FDA Digital Health Advisory Committee & Policy Work
Aligning innovation with safety, oversight, and public trustI chair the FDA Digital Health Advisory Committee, where our role is to advise on emerging topics, such as AI, software as a medical device, and digital diagnostics. I have led the FDA's inaugural two live public meetings on regulatory frameworks for generative AI in healthcare, as well as digital therapeutics for mental health. We focus on how technology should be evaluated, regulated, and monitored over time. Beyond committee work, I:
Advise the FDA TAP
(Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program) for breakthrough devices, helping innovators think realistically about clinical workflows, evidence generation, and long-term safety from day one.Support cross-sector oversight
by advising the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), and other government and nonprofit partners as they evaluate digital health and AI in real-world settings. My goal in this work is simple: technology should earn its place in healthcare. That means rigorous science, clear guardrails, and an honest understanding of both benefits and risks, including cybersecurity, bias, and unintended consequences.
Telecardiology & Hybrid Care at Mass General
Designing care models that meet people where they areLong before telehealth became a necessity, I started offering virtual visits for my adult congenital heart disease patients - many of whom traveled hours to be seen. That experience grew into formal telecardiology programs at Massachusetts General Hospital, where I served as Director of Outpatient Cardiology and TeleCardiology. In that work, I helped:
Launch and scale telecardiology clinics,
beginning in 2013, for adults living with congenital heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.Navigate rapid expansion during COVID-19,
building workflows and interdisciplinary teams that made virtual visits safe, billable, documented, and sustainable over time.Evolve toward “blended care”,
where patients and clinicians can choose the right mix of in-person and virtual visits based on clinical need, access, and preference.Telehealth isn’t a tech experiment to me, it’s a way to treat people in their own communities, reduce unnecessary travel and delays, and create more flexible, humane care models for both patients and clinicians.

Adult Congenital Heart Disease & Lifetime Care
Caring for people who have lived with heart disease their entire livesAt Massachusetts General Hospital, I directed the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) program, caring for people born with heart defects who are now living full adult lives—with jobs, families, and complex health histories. In this work, I:
Built multidisciplinary care models
that bring cardiologists, surgeons, imaging specialists, and others together around each patient.Helped develop long-term care pathways
that focus on quality of life, not just survival.Used digital tools, including virtual visits and remote monitoring
so patients didn’t have to relive childhood hospital experiences every time they needed follow-up care.ACHD patients are a powerful reminder of why equitable, lifelong access to care matters—and why our systems must evolve as people and technologies change. Read more here.
Leadership Development & Mentorship
Preparing the next generation of clinician-innovatorsInnovation only scales if people are prepared to lead it.
At Mass General, I co-designed the MGH Elevate Leadership Program, created to help early and mid-career clinicians build skills in communication, agility, creativity, and change management. Across my roles, I:
Mentor
physicians, trainees, and health professionalsinterested in digital health, AI, and new models of care.Speak
with leaders in rural health, global health, and community care about how technology can support (not overshadow) local expertise.Advocate
for clinician wellness, realistic workflows, and the reduction of administrative burden through thoughtful use of data and automation.Advisory & Collaborative Work
Connecting innovators, clinicians, and policymakersAlongside my formal roles, I work with organizations across healthcare and technology that are committed to building responsible, effective tools and systems. This includes:
Regulators & public agencies
Advising the FDA TAP program, the Consumer Technology Association, the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and other governmental and nonprofit groups on digital health, AI, and data-driven care.Health systems & payers
Supporting strategies for virtual care, AI adoption, and health equity, particularly in communities where access has historically been limited.Companies and investors
Working with startups and established companies on clinical validation, regulatory alignment, workflow integration, and long-term value creation, not just short-term novelty. My priority in all of these collaborations is the same: align innovation with real-world needs, evidence, and the lived experience of both patients and clinicians.
